涙の道

涙の道（なみだのみち、英：Trail of Tears）は、1838年にアメリカ合衆国のチェロキー族インディアンを、後にオクラホマ州となる地域のインディアン居留地に強制移動（Population transfer）させたときのことをいう。このとき、15,000名いたチェロキー族のうちおよそ4,000人から5,000人が途上で亡くなった[1][2]。
