ウィリアム・ホイストン（英: William Whiston、1667年12月9日 - 1752年8月22日）は、イギリスの神学者・歴史家・数学者。経度法を推進した。
概略
1703年にアイザック・ニュートンの推薦によりケンブリッジ大学のルーカス教授職の第3代教授を務めた。
著書『地球の新説』において、ノアの洪水は地球に接近した彗星により地殻が裂け、地球の内部の水が溢れ出したことによって起こったと科学的に説明した。また、ニュートンの著書『普遍算術』の編集を担当した。エドモンド・ハレーとも親交があった。
また、神学者としてはユダヤ教研究を行い、フラウィウス・ヨセフスの『ユダヤ古代誌』を翻訳した。一方、著作『旧約聖書再現試論』(1722年)では、ユダヤ人は旧約聖書の写本を歪め、故意に改悪したと反ユダヤ主義的な主張を行った[1][2]。
