ロビン・ダニエル・スキナー（英: Robin Daniel Skinner[2][11][12]、1998年12月15日[2] - ）、芸名ではケイヴタウン（英: Cavetown〈小文字で表記されることもある〉）[13][14]は、イギリスのシンガーソングライター、音楽プロデューサー、YouTuber。スタイルは、インディー・ロック、インディー・ポップ、ベッドルーム・ポップの要素と、メロウで優しいウクレレとギターのバラードを融合させている[2]。
2024年3月時点で、Spotifyでの月間ストリーミング再生回数は660万人を超えている[15]。2012年11月に開設したYouTubeチャンネルは、2025年5月時点で226万人の登録者数と6億1200万回以上の動画再生回数を誇っている[16]。
来歴
生い立ち
1998年12月15日、イングランドオックスフォードで生まれた[2][17]。音楽への興味は、音楽学者であり合唱団の指揮者でもあった父のデイヴィッド・スキナーの影響で、8歳の時にアコースティックギターの弾き方を教えられた[18][19] 母はプロのバロック・フルート奏者であり音楽教師である。ケンブリッジで育ち、2010年から2015年までパークサイド・コミュニティ大学、2017年までヒルズ・ロード・シックス・フォーム大学に通っていた[20]。
キャリア
2012年11月にYouTubeチャンネルを開設し、2013年10月にオリジナル曲「ホーンティッド・ララバイ」を含む最初の動画をアップロードした[21][22]。その後、間もなく14歳にしてファースト・アルバム『エブリシング・イズ・メイド・オブ・クラウドゥズ』をBandcampにリリースし始めた[23][24]。その後2年間で、Bandcampで『グッド・ヴァイブス』、『ナーバス・フレンズ // Pt. 1』、『バランス』（ブラザー〈brother〉名義）、『エブリシング・イズ・メイド・オブ・スターズ』をリリースした[25][26][27]。批評家は『グッド・ヴァイブス』で「無知の受容」を感じたと評した[28]。2015年8月にデビューシングル『ディス・イズ・ホーム』をリリースし[29]、同年11月にデビューアルバム『This is Home』をリリースした[30]。批評家はアルバム『ケイヴタウン』を「アコースティックとエレクトロニックの折衷的なミックス」と評した[31]。その後もYouTubeチャンネルでパイングローブ、トゥエンティ・ワン・パイロッツ、Jojiなどのアーティストの曲のカバーを公開し続けた[19]。
2016年、2枚目のスタジオ・アルバム『16/04/16』をリリースした[32]。同アルバムには、「温かみのあるメロディアスなベッドルームポップ」と「ローファイ・インディーロック」が融合している.[2]。同ルバムは、アルバム発売当日に白血病で亡くなった幼なじみのジャック・グラハムに捧げられた。アルバム収益の60%はキャンサー・リサーチUKに寄付された[33]。
2018年1月、3枚目のアルバム『レモン・ボーイ』をリリースした[34]。同年6月にはEP『ディア』をリリースした[35]。
2019年、5枚のスプリット・シングルをリリースし、後にカバー曲やオリジナルシングルを含む10曲を収録したミックステープ『アニマル・キングダム』にまとめ上げられた。このミックステープには、シドニー・ギッシュ、シミ、クロエ・モリオンドといったゲストアーティストが参加している[36][37][38]。
2019年、サイアー・レコードと契約し、後に『スリーピーヘッド』と名乗ることを発表したニュー・アルバムに先駆けてシングル「テレスコープ」をリリースした。同年、コンサートアルバム『ライブ・アット・ホクストン・ホール』もリリースした。
2019年10月、『スリーピーヘッド』のプロモーションとして、完売となった世界規模のヘッドライン・ツアーを開始した。UKツアーではハニーとMxmtoonが数公演参加し[39][40]、USツアーではフィールド・メディックとクロエ・モリオンドが数公演参加した[36]。2019年10月、スキナーはオーストラリア東海岸を巡るヘッドライナーツアーを発表し、2020年1月にはSpookyghostboyを伴って行われた[41]。
2020年、メジャーデビューアルバム『スリーピーヘッド』をリリースした[42]。2020年6月、コロナウイルス（COVID-19）パンデミックの影響で『スリーピーヘッド』のツアーを中止した[43]。2020年7月、テッサ・バイオレットとコラボレーションしたシングル「スモーク・シグナルズ」をリリースし、ユニセックスアパレルブランド「Cave Collective」の立ち上げを発表した[44]。
2021年にはEP『マンズ・ベスト・フレンド』をリリースした[45]。クラッシュ誌のサハル・ガディリアンはこのEPを好意的に評価し、「切なく心に響く、独特のふわふわ感で安らぎを与えてくれる」と評した[46]。
2022年、アルバム『ワーム・フード』をリリースし、批評家から好評を博した。クラッシュのレイチェル・ミン・レオンは、『ワーム・フード』がスキナーの「心を解き放つ、生々しい誠実さ」に「新たな深み」をもたらしたと称賛した[47]。同様に、NMEのアリ・シャトラーも『ワーム・フード』の「生々しい誠実さ、理解、そして自己啓発」を高く評価し、「（スキナーの）これまでで最も完成度の高いアルバム」と評した[48][49]。『ワーム・フード』には、ピアス・ザ・ヴェイル、ビーバドゥービー、クロエ・モリオンドといったゲストアーティストが参加した[50]。同時期に、LGBT+の若者を支援する様々な慈善団体に寄付を行う財団「This Is Home Project」を設立した[47][49]。
2024年、EP『リトル・ヴァイス』をリリースした[51][52]。2024年6月、Bandcampに戻り、ミツキの「マイ・ラヴ・マイン・オール・マイン」のカバーをリリースした[53]。その後、フランキー・コスモスとの「magic 8 ball」を含む複数のコラボレーションシングルをリリースした[54][55][56]。これは、2024年から2025年にかけてマザー・マザーとのツアーに先駆けて行われたものだった[57][58]。2024年12月、スキナー自身の楽曲のローファイ・バージョンを収録したEPをリリースした[59]。
2025年3月、「マイ・ラブ・マイン・オール・マイン」の以前のカバーを含むEPをリリースし、『Songs I Like in 2025』と題されたEPをリリースした[60]。
2026年1月16日、ケイブタウンは6枚目のスタジオアルバム『ランニング・ウィズ・シザーズ』をリリースした。2025年後半にはアルバムからいくつかのシングル（「ベイビー・スプーン」、「レインボー・ギャル」、「ターマック」、「NPC」）をリリースし、2026年1月にはクロエ・モリオンドとのコラボレーションによる「セイルボート」をリリースした[61]。これは、2024年に設立されたネオン・ゴールドとアベニューAレコードの合弁会社であるフューチャーズ・ミュージック・グループからスキナーが初めてリリースした曲だった[62]。アルバムのリリース後、ワールドツアーが行われる予定[63]。
私生活
自身が無性愛と無性愛の両方のスペクトラムに属していると述べている[64][65]。2020年9月にトランスジェンダーであることを公表した[66]。2025年現在、ガールフレンドと共にニューヨークに住んでいる[67][68]。注意欠陥・多動性障害を患っている[69]。
