CREB（cAMP response element binding protein）[1]は転写因子であり、cAMP応答配列（cAMP response element、CRE）と呼ばれる特定のDNA配列に結合し、遺伝子の転写を増加させたり低下させたりする[2]。CREBは1987年に、ソマトスタチン遺伝子を調節するcAMP応答性転写因子として最初に記載された[3]。
