イソフェンタニル（英：Isofentanyl）または3-メチルベンジルフェンタニルは、1973年に初めて発明されたフェンタニル類縁体（かつ構造異性体）であるオピオイド鎮痛薬であり[2]、デザイナードラッグとして販売されている[3]。
副作用
フェンタニル類縁体の副作用はフェンタニル自体と同様であり、痒み、吐き気、死に至る可能性のある重篤な呼吸抑制などがある。フェンタニル類縁体は、2000年代初頭にエストニアで使用が再興して以来、ヨーロッパ全域および旧ソ連諸国で数百人の死者を出しており、新たな誘導体が次々と出現している[4]。アメリカ合衆国では2014年頃から新たなフェンタニル類縁体とそれに関連する死亡事例の波が始まり、その流行は拡大し続けている。特に2016年以降、これらの薬物は毎週数百件の過剰摂取死を引き起こしている[5]。
法的地位
フェンタニル自体の構造異性体であるイソフェンタニルは、世界中の多くの管轄において薬物類縁体法の下で禁止されている。アメリカ合衆国では、フェンタニル関連物質はスケジュールIの規制物質である[1]。
