ステゴサウルス科

ステゴサウルス科 (学名: Stegosauridae) は装盾類の恐竜のクレードの一つで、剣竜類の下位分類群である。剣竜類の中でファヤンゴサウルスよりステゴサウルスに近縁な全ての種が含まれる[1] 。名称はこの系統の中でよく知られた属であるステゴサウルスに因んでおり、「屋根トカゲ」を意味する[2] 。化石は北米大陸、ユーラシア大陸、アフリカ大陸のジュラ紀中期から白亜紀前期の地層から報告されている。一方、姉妹群であるファヤンゴサウルス科はジュラ紀中期に限定されている[3][4]。
