コウマクノウキンは菌界のコウマクノウキン門コウマクノウキン属に分類される水生菌類である。フクロミズカビと呼ばれる事もある。
概要
コウマクノウキンの種は一つの菌体を形成し、分枝する基部を持ち一方の端に仮根、もう一方に胞子嚢を持つ[1]。一般に酸素を利用できないが、酸素の存在で生育は阻害されない[1]。沈んだ枝や果実等で成長する[1]。
分類
1877年、ドイツの科学者Paul Friedrich Reinschにより一つの種、Blastocladia pringsheimiiを含む物としてコウマクノウキン属（Blastocladia）は記載された[2]。1896年、Roland Thaxterは二つめの種B. ramosaを追加した[3]。Rolandは、フハイカビ属(Pythium)の胞子嚢との類似性を元に暫定的にコウマクノウキン属をフハイカビ科（Pythiaceae）に分類した。 1897年、Joseph Schröter はLeptomitaceaeにコウマクノウキン属を分類した[4]。1909年、Petersenはコウマクノウキン属がミズカビ目（Saploregniales）とは本質的に異なるものであると考え、コウマクノウキン目及びコウマクノウキン科を規定し、コウマクノウキン属（Blastocladia）を収めた[5]。
