1998年のオーストラリアスーパーツーリング選手権は、スーパーツーリングカーの規制に基づいてオーストラリアでCAMSが認可したモーターレースシリーズの6年目のシリーズ。 4月5日のカルダーパーク・レースウェイで開幕し、8月30日のオラン・パーク・レースウェイで終了した。このシリーズは、TOCAオーストラリアによって1998年のBOCガスオーストラリアスーパーツーリングチャンピオンシップとして宣伝された。BTCCと同様に、レース形式が変更され、各ミーティングはより短い「スプリント」レースと「フィーチャー」レースで構成され、15〜75％の間に2タイヤストップが義務付けらた為、以前のレースよりも25％長くなった。距離。唯一の例外は、ピットレーンに問題があったレイクサイドレースウェイだった。

チームとドライバーの変更

1997年のチャンピオンシップ優勝者であるポール・モリスとBMWは、BMWがツーリングカーの運用を縮小したため、シリーズを去った。
ボルボはジム・リチャーズのマシンを850から新しいS40 ^[1]に切り替えた。
キャメロン・マクリーンは、1997年にレースを行ったオペル/ホールデン・ベクトラから、1997年のチャンピオンマシンのBMW ^[2]乗り換えまた。
トニー・ニューマンは元BTCCで使用されたプジョー・406にアップグレードした^[3]
マーク・アダートンはトヨタ・カムリからホンダ・アコードに切り替えた。 ^[4]
