アデレード大学を卒業し、ロンドン・スクール・オブ・エコノミクスで博士号取得。西南学院大学教授、ニュージーランドのウェリントン・ヴィクトリア大学教授を経て、現在オーストラリアのメルボルン大学で教えている。
