アフリカ人墓地ナショナル・モニュメント(アフリカじんぼちナショナルモニュメント、英: African Burial Ground National Monument)とは、ニューヨーク市ロウアー・マンハッタンのシヴィック・センター地区にあるアメリカ合衆国の国定史跡(ナショナル・モニュメント)である。
注釈
- ^ マンハッタンに留まることを義務付けられ、必要とされた時には奉仕労役に戻らなければならない、などの制限がついた解放状態のこと。また半自由の者達が生んだ子供は奴隷とみなされる[9]。
- ^ この『Book of Negroes』は18世紀の歴史資料であり、2007年にローレンス・ヒルが書いた小説『The Book of Negroes』とは別物なので注意。
- ^ 奴隷売買の成立後に、多くのアフリカ先住民がベナンやセネガルの港から移送され、彼らが故郷に戻ってくることは2度となかったため、奴隷輸送に使われた西アフリカ沿岸の港が「帰らざる扉 (Door of No Return) 」と呼ばれるようになった。
