ブロックトンの出身者にプロボクシングの世界チャンピオンとなったロッキー・マルシアノ（ヘビー級）やマービン・ハグラー（ミドル級）がいること、ブロックトン高校のスポーツ訓練が成功していることと合わせ「チャンピオンの都市」と呼ばれることがある。市内にはモンテロとカンペロという2つのビレッジがある。どちらもマサチューセッツ湾交通局の通勤鉄道の駅があり、郵便局もある。カンペロは市内最小の地区だが、人口は最も多い。野球のブロックトン・ロックスが市を本拠地にしている。アメリカ合衆国でも風の強い都市であり、平均風速は14.3マイル/h (6.4 m/s) である[3]。
