私生活
乗馬が大好きで、ミネソタに55エーカー（約22万㎡）の広大な土地で暮らしていたこともある。1996年に夫が亡くなると、生まれ故郷のルイジアナに戻ったが、2007年にミネソタ州プリンストンの病院で癌で死去、68歳だった[12]。
生前は、2人の息子ショーンとヒースとその妻たち、たくさんの孫に囲まれた生活だった。3人目の息子ドレンはウッディウィスより先に亡くなった[1]。最後の作品『終わりなき愛』（原題：Everlasting ）は2007年10月30日に刊行された。
