ノースダコタ州（ノースダコタしゅう、英: State of North Dakota [ˌnɔrθ dəˈkoʊtə] (
音声ファイル)）は、アメリカ合衆国中西部の最北部、グレートプレーンズ（大平原）にある州。州の北側はカナダ国境であり、サスカチュワン州およびマニトバ州に接している。東側はミネソタ州との州境にレッド川が流れている。西側はモンタナ州に、南側はサウスダコタ州に接している[1]。人口は80万人に満たず全米50州の中で少ない方から4番目であり、面積は第19位なので人口密度も4番目に小さい。1889年11月2日にそれまでのダコタ準州が南北に分割され、サウスダコタ州とともに同時に州に昇格したが、アルファベット順でノースダコタ州が39番目、サウスダコタ州が40番目と認識されている。
