ベルナール・ウェルベル（Bernard Werber、1961年9月18日-）は、1990年代から活躍するフランスの作家。トゥールーズ出身[1]
概要
作家としてデビューするまではル・ヌーヴェル・オブスの記者として活動していた。
彼の作品は35の言語に翻訳されて、世界中で3,000 万部が販売されている[2]。ウェルベルは、マルク・レヴィと並んで世界で最も広く読まれている現代フランス作家の一人である。彼の作品はフランス本国以上に韓国やロシアで人気がある[3][4]。
2022年4月、彼は芸術文化担当官に任命された[5]。
2023 年 8 月 30 日以来、彼はフランス・キュルチュールで冠番組を持っている[6]。
ウェルベルの作品は、叙事詩、SF、哲学的思想など、文学におけるいくつかのジャンルをミックスしている。 彼の小説のほとんどは散文と百科事典的な文章が交互に登場する。またウェルバーの小説の多くは、共通の登場人物やテーマでつながっている。例えば、エドモンド・ウェルズという人物は、『蟻』三部作、『天使の帝国』、『われら神は』のいずれにも登場する。
