スティーヴン・ムーア（1951年5月15日 - ）はアメリカ合衆国の作家、文学批評家である。小説家ウィリアム・ギャディスの主要な権威として知られており、2巻からなる研究書『The Novel: An Alternative History』の著者である。

経歴

ロサンゼルス郊外で生まれたムーアは、1963年にコロラド州リトルトンに移り、1966年から1969年までアラパホ高校に通った。彼はEarthquake Moving Companyというバンドでベースギターを演奏し、多くのロックバンドの一員として自身の作曲を頻繁に演奏していた^[1]。

彼はグリーリーのノーザン・コロラド大学で初めて詩を学内の文学雑誌に寄稿した。3年生の時に専攻を歴史から英語に変更し、1973年に学士号、1974年に修士号を取得。1974年から1977年まで代用教師として働きながら、小説『Clarinets and Candles』（未出版）と二作目の初稿を書き始めた^[2]。また、1974年から1978年までコロラド・バレエ団のメンバーとして、様々な小さな役を踊った。
