スティーヴン・ムーア（1951年5月15日 - ）はアメリカ合衆国の作家、文学批評家である。小説家ウィリアム・ギャディスの主要な権威として知られており、2巻からなる研究書『The Novel: An Alternative History』の著者である。

経歴

ロサンゼルス郊外で生まれたムーアは、1963年にコロラド州リトルトンに移り、1966年から1969年までアラパホ高校に通った。彼はEarthquake Moving Companyというバンドでベースギターを演奏し、多くのロックバンドの一員として自身の作曲を頻繁に演奏していた。

彼はグリーリーのノーザン・コロラド大学で初めて詩を学内の文学雑誌に寄稿した。3年生の時に専攻を歴史から英語に変更し、1973年に学士号、1974年に修士号を取得。1974年から1977年まで代用教師として働きながら、小説『Clarinets and Candles』（未出版）と二作目の初稿を書き始めた。また、1974年から1978年までコロラド・バレエ団のメンバーとして、様々な小さな役を踊った。

ムーアはウィリアム・ギャディスの小説の第一人者であり、1975年に彼の作品を発見し、それ以来いくつかの書籍やエッセイを執筆している。彼は2000年にフランスのオルレアン、2005年にニューヨーク州バッファローで開催されたギャディスシンポジウムで講演者として招かれ、2008年に出版されたギャディスの『J R』の中国語翻訳を支援した。彼の編集による『The Letters of William Gaddis』は、2013年2月にダルキー・アーカイブ・プレスから出版された。
