ロバート・フック（Robert Hooke、1635年7月28日〈7月18日〉- 1703年3月3日）は、イギリスの自然哲学者、建築家、博物学者、生物学者。王立協会フェロー[1]。実験と理論の両面を通じて科学革命で重要な役割を演じた。

(b) フックの1679年12月9日付けのニュートンへの返事では、空気抵抗を受ける場合と受けない場合を考慮している。空気抵抗がない場合は中心に落下することなく楕円軌道を描くとし、空気抵抗を受ける場合は螺旋軌道を描きながら中心に落下するとしており、結局ニュートンの考察(Turnball 1960, pp. 304–306)とよく似ている。
