フロリゲン
別名：花成ホルモン、開花ホルモン、花咲かホルモン
英語：florigen
植物の花芽、すなわち展開して花が咲く芽の形成を促進するとされる物質。
フロリゲンは、1937年にはその存在が予言されていたが、それが何の物質であるのかは、70年もの期間にわたり特定されずにいた。2007年に奈良先端科学技術大学院大学の研究チームが「Hd3a遺伝子」から生成されたたんぱく質であることを解明した。
2011年8月1日、奈良先端科学技術大学院大学の同じ研究チームが、フロリゲンの受容体を発見すると同時に、開花時期を自在に変えて花を咲かせる技術を開発したと発表、科学誌Nature上で発表した。
フロリゲンによる開花時期操作の実現は、いわゆる「花咲か爺」を現実のものとする、というだけでなく、農産品の安定的生産などに役立つという。
