駁毛

駁毛（ぶちげ、英: Pinto/Pattern）は、馬の毛色の一つで、体幹部に大きな白斑のあるもの[注 1]。あるいはそういった特徴を備える馬そのものを指すこともある。日本では、原毛色が勝るものを鹿駁毛、栗駁毛、白斑が勝るものを駁鹿毛、駁栗毛などとする[1]。
- ^ ここでいう白斑は体幹部や頭部にある物のみを指す。星や作といった顔面の白斑や、脚部の白だけでは駁毛とはみなされない
- ^ サラブレッドにおいて、白斑を持つ馬も鹿毛や栗毛と言った原毛色で登録され、白斑は白徴の項に記載されるのみである。甚だ大規模な白斑を持つものは白毛として登録される。これは、ジョッキークラブ、日本軽種牡馬協会[2]、米ジョッキークラブ[3]ともに同じである。ちなみに、アメリカンペイントホースに登録されるサラブレッドも存在する
