^ リグ・ヴェーダ、アタルヴァ・ヴェーダでは33の神がおり、天と地とその他に属する11柱ずつ3つのグループに分けられるという記述がある^[10]。
^ ヴィシュヌはスーリヤ、ヴァルナ、ミトラと、シヴァはインドラ、ヴァーユ、マルト神群、ルドラとそれぞれ関連付けられる^[6]。アグニは生命の創造者という性格を持っており、創造神ブラフマーを連想できる^[6]。
