Novellとは、ネットワークOSの代表的製品であるNetwareを開発したことで知られるソフトウェアメーカーの名称である。米国マサチューセッツ州に本社を置く。
NovellのNetwareは1983年に発売された。LAN（Local Area Network）を通じたクライアントマシンのリソースの共有を実現し、ネットワークOSの代表的製品として認知されるに至っている。
その他、百万人単位で電子メールのアカウントを集中管理するインターネットメールシステム「NetMail」や、グループウェア「GroupWise」、情報システム管理用ソフト「ZENworks」、ディレクトリサービス「eDirectory」などの提供を行っている。また、2003年に買収した商用のLinuxディストリビューション「SUSE Linux」を開発、提供していることで、ディストリビュータとしても重要な位置を占めている。

ノベル (Novell, Inc. [noʊˈvɛl]) は、かつて存在したソフトウェアとサービスの会社である。本社はユタ州プロボに存在した。ノベルの助けによりユタバレーは技術とソフトウェア開発の中心となった。ノベルの技術はLocal Area Network (LAN) の出現に貢献し、LANは支配的なメインフレームコンピューティングモデルを置き換えて世界中のコンピューティングを変えていった。
