カーネギー図書館

カーネギー図書館（カーネギーとしょかん、英: Carnegie library）とは、スコットランド系アメリカ人実業家・博愛家のアンドリュー・カーネギーの寄付金で建てられた図書館の総称である。ニューヨーク・カーネギー財団の支援により、2,500を超えるカーネギー図書館が建てられ、その中には公共図書館システムや大学図書館システムに属するものも存在する。

「ハンフォード (カリフォルニア州)」の記事における「カーネギー図書館」の解説
ハンフォード・カーネギー図書館は鉄鋼王アンドリュー・カーネギーが資金を出した多くのカーネギー図書館の1つとして1905年に建設されたものである。1968年に新しい場所に建てられた図書館に機能は移された。古い図書館はその後改装され、1974年にハンフォード・カーネギー博物館として再開された。建物はロマネスク様式であり、ハンフォード地域の歴史を説明する家具や写真を展示している。
