アレクサンドリア図書館（アレクサンドリアとしょかん、古希: Βιβλιοθήκη τῆς Ἀλεξανδρείας - Bibliothḗkē tês Alexandreíās）は、プトレマイオス朝時代からローマ帝国時代にかけ、エジプトのアレクサンドリアに設置されていた図書館である。古典古代世界における最大かつ最も重要な図書館であり、ヘレニズム時代の学問において中心的な役割を果たした。図書館自体は、ムセイオンと呼ばれる文芸を司る9人の女神ムサ（ミューズ）に捧げられた、大きな研究機関の一部であった[10]。

- ^ エラトステネスのこの皮肉は、歴史家ポリュビオスが著書『歴史』において地理学についての見解を述べる際にオデュッセウス放浪の地は実際に存在する土地であるとする立場からエラトステネスを批判して引用したものである。引用元のエラトステネスの著作も引用先のポリュビオスの『歴史』巻34も現存しておらず、エラトステネスの皮肉とポリュビオスの批判はポリュビオスをさらに引用したストラボンの『地誌』によって伝わっている[62]。なお、「風の革袋」とは『オデュッセイア』第10歌においてアイオリア（アイオリエ）島に漂着したオデュッセウスが風神アイオロスから与えられた袋である。この革袋には「吹き荒ぶさまざまな風の通い路」が封じ込められていたが、宝物が入っていると思いこんだオデュッセウスの部下の船乗りたちが航海の最中に袋を空けてしまい、そのために巻き起こった風によって故国イタケを目の前にしていたオデュッセウスの船はアイオリア島に吹き戻されてしまう[63]。
