アグロバクテリウム

アグロバクテリウムとは、グラム陰性菌に属する土壌細菌であるリゾビウム属 (Rhizobium) の内、植物に対する病原性を持つものの総称。中でも根頭癌腫病に関連する腫瘍原性Rhizobium radiobacter（旧来Agrobacterium tumefaciensとされていたもの）[注釈 1]を指すことが多い。
注釈
- ^ 20世紀中は病原性を指標にした分類が行われており、そこではAgrobacterium tumefaciensとされていた。現在は分子系統を指標とした分類が支持を集めており、Rhizobium radiobacterの中には旧来Agrobacterium radiobacterと呼ばれていた感染性のないものも含まれている。なお旧来A. tumefaciensとされていた株の中には別の種に分類されたものもある。
