Mai Suzuki

Biography
Career
Suzuki was born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1989. At the age of three, she started playing the piano then the violin at the age of four.
She graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts where she received lessons from Takashi Shimizu.
She relocated to Europe to study at Haute École de musique de Lausanne and Mozarteum University Salzburg, under the tutelage of Pierre Amoyal. At University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, she find a mentor in Ingolf Turban.
Shas come to prominence in Europe since she became a finalist of the 4th International Violin Competition Henri Marteau in 2011.
In 2013, she won 1st prizes at the “Vaclav Huml” International Competition in Zagreb, and at the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition in 2014. She was also awarded 2nd prize at the Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition in Ufa, Russia in 2016.
Her debut album “Mai favorite” was released on Septemper 2017 by King Records.
The violin that is played by her is Nicolo Amati, dates from 1683.
She is based in Munich, Germany, scholarship recipient of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now.
