陰謀論（いんぼうろん、英: conspiracy theory）とは、なんらかの有名な出来事や状況に関する説明で、根拠の有無にかかわらず「邪悪で強力な集団（組織）による陰謀が関与している」と断定したり信じたりしようとするものである[1][2][3]。この言葉は、偏見や不十分な証拠に基づいて陰謀の存在を訴えているという、否定的な意味合いを持って使われることが多い[4][5]。 「陰謀論」という言葉は、単純に秘密の計画を指す「陰謀」とは異なり、科学者や歴史家などその正確性を評価する資格のある人々の間で主流の見解に反対しているなどの特定の特徴を持つ「仮説上の陰謀」を指すものである[6][7][8]。
