これらのショートフィルムは、ダイレクト・トゥー・ビデオでリリースされたり、ユニバーサル社が限定的に劇場で配給したりした。主に『ワイルド・スピード』（2001年）、『ワイルド・スピードX2』（2003年）、『ワイルド・スピード MAX』（2009年）のDVDリリース時に特典として収録された。フィルムは10分から20分程度で、映画の中で登場するキャラクターやイベントのバックストーリーを提供する自己完結型のストーリーとしてデザインされている。また、初期の主役たちがシリーズを去ったことで生じた年代的なギャップを埋めるために作られた。
ワイルド・スピードX2 序章（2003年）
この映画は、ブライアン・オコナー（ポール・ウォーカー）がロサンゼルスから逃げ出し、法の執行を避け、最終的にマイアミに到着するまでを描いている。
この作品は、『ワイルド・スピード』と『ワイルド・スピードX2』の間に設定されている。監督はフィリップ・G・アトウェル、脚本はキース・ディニエリで、2003年6月3日に公開された。
ロス・バンドレロス～盗賊たち（2009年）

ドミニク・トレット（ヴィン・ディーゼル）は、ドミニカ共和国で指名手配中の逃亡者として暮らしていた。やがて彼は、レティ（ミシェル・ロドリゲス）や他の仲間と再会し、貧しい地域を救うためにガソリンのハイジャックを計画する。
この作品は『ワイルド・スピード』の後、『ワイルド・スピード MAX』の前が舞台となっている。監督はディーゼル、脚本はT・J・マンシーニで、彼とディーゼルによるストーリーから作られた。2009年7月28日に公開された。
