外洋海軍

外洋海軍（がいようかいぐん）またはブルーウォーター・ネイビー（英語：blue-water navy）は、外洋の深海上を横断して世界的に活動できる海軍である[1]。実際にその海軍力を構成するものの定義は様々だが、広範囲での制海権を行使する能力が必要とされる。

- ^ 国際政治学者のAdrian Hyde-Priceは、冷戦後に英仏両国が遠征戦争と戦力投射に再び注目したことを強調する。戦力投射は両国の残された海外における国益を考慮した英仏の軍事的思考の一要素であったが、現在では中心的位置を占める[33]。
- ^ 英国王立防衛安全保障研究所によれば、「国連安保理常任理事国として、地球の大部分への海上アクセスを可能にする、信頼性があり強力な通常戦力を展開する独立した能力は魅力的である。この軍隊は国家安全保障戦略 (イギリス)で保証されているようにイギリスが新たな危機の中で侵略者を阻止し、予防し、抑圧し、あるいは必要であれば破壊するための政治的支援を約束する機会をイギリスに提供する」[52]。
