ミオリッツア

ミオリッツアまたはミオリツァ（ルーマニア語: Miorița、'雌の仔羊ちゃん'の意）は、ルーマニア伝承の牧歌的バラッド。ルーマニアの民間伝承のなかでも重要とされる作品である[1]。異本も多数で、内容にもかなりの違いがみられるが、作家のヴァシレ・アレクサンドリに拠る、いわゆる文芸民謡版がもっとも有名で、称賛もされている。
- ^ 「～ちゃん」付に似た例に、英訳題名 "The Lambkin"がある[7]。
- ^ このうちトランシルヴァニア人（ungurean）とされるひとりは、逐語訳すると「ハンガリー国人」で、新免の邦訳でも「ハンガリー人」とあるが[8]、じっさいはハンガリー帝国統治下のトランシルヴァニアに住んでいたルーマニア系人をさす、と解説されている。「ハンガリー人」を意味する単語は別である（ungur）[10][11]。
- ^ ニューカムの英訳では "black sheep"（黒毛）だがその脚注で lău (m.), laie (f.) は'gray'（灰色、葦毛）とある。ローマニア語辞典では、"lai という語は "黒か灰色の毛の羊；またそのような羊から刈られた（低品質の）羊毛"[17]（ティトキンの羅英辞書も参照[18]) 、あるいは"黒または黒い斑"とも定義されるので[19]、解釈の余地がある。
- ^ 新免訳では"黒い口の仔羊"だが、Newcombe 英訳 "black-nosed" やSnodgrass 英訳"muzzled"に照らして「鼻口部」とする。Nandriș (1945), p. 292のように"口のあたりが黒い"bucălău"が"黒い口の（羊についていう）"の意であるとするが、ティトキンの羅英辞書はより詳しく、(a)定義では"黒や灰色の毛（羊についていう）"、(b)定義では"黒い口"とし、後者の用例が「ミオリツァ」だとしている[20] 。イオルダンの辞書ではしかし"片頬または両頬がlăi（=灰色）"と定義[21]。農学論文だと、たとえば頭頂や尾の色素脱失についてももちいる用例がある[22]。
- ^ この語fluieraș （fluier + 指小接尾辞 -aș）は'子笛' を意味するが、"笛吹く人、ホイッスルを吹く人"も同語である[27]。
- ^ このくだりから、羊飼いの笛は牧笛であることがうかがえるが、伝説の英雄ファト・フルモス（美童子）も、やはり骨笛をもっており、動物の仲間を呼ぶために使用する、とその類似が指摘される[30]。だが、演奏用の楽器でもあり、たとえばルーマニア民謡のドイナの伴奏に羊飼いの笛（fluieraș）やtilincăが奏でられる[31]。
