タマム・シュッド事件（タマム・シュッドじけん、英語: the Tamam Shud Case）、または「タマン・シュッド事件」（英語: the Taman Shud Case）は、1948年12月1日午前6時30分頃、オーストラリア南オーストラリア州のアデレードの南、グレネルグのソマートン公園（英語: Somerton Park）の海岸で、身元不明の男性の遺体が発見された事件。
- ^ 11世紀ペルシアの詩集『ルバイヤート』の最後の語句 "Tamám Shud"（تمام شد）にちなむが、2通りの呼称があるのは、最初に事件を報じた新聞が誤って "Taman Shud" と伝え、それがその他の報道にも引き継がれたためと推測される。ペルシア語のتمام tamám は「終わり」を意味する名詞、شد shud は過去時制を表す接辞であり、全体で「終わった」、「済んだ」という意味になる。
- ^ 当時、戦時の配給制度が強化されて衣類は入手が困難であったため、名札を取り付けることはよくある習慣であったが、古着を購入した場合に前の所有者の名札を取り外すことも、また普通に行われていることだった。
- ^ 市営浴場と称されているが、そこは実際には公衆浴場ではなく、公共の水泳プールであった。駅付属の浴場は、駅の南出口付近の荷物預かり所の近くにあり、キング・ウィリアム通りにある市営浴場は、駅構内の通路を通った反対側、北出口の近くにあった[46]。

- ^ ボクソールは1906年4月16日にロンドンで生まれ、1942年1月12日にオーストラリア陸軍に入隊、1948年4月12日に除隊した[59]。
- ^ この女性に関する当時の報道では、彼女の証言通り「既婚」、または「新婚」であると伝えているものが多いが、この女性、ジェシカ・ハーキンズ (Jessica Harkness) は実際には当時未婚であった。その頃既に彼女が、後の夫であるプロスパー・トムソン (Prosper Thomson) と同居状態にあったかは不明である (電話帳には女性はトムソン姓で登録されており、警察にもその姓を名乗っている)。しかし証拠から見ると、警察も女性に夫がいることと考えていたようである。ジェシカの息子は1947年7月生まれ。ジェシカはプロスパー・トムソンの離婚が成立してすぐの1950年5月に彼と結婚し、その子の父親は彼とされている。プロスパー・トムソンは1936年に一度結婚していた。
