2006年1月2日(1月1日が日曜だったため翌日に順延)のパレードでは風速45 mph (72 km/h)、降水5インチ (130 mm)が予測された。天気予報は的中し、51年続いた晴天記録が破られた。パレードの間中、豪雨が降り続いた。早朝、Tournament House にて主催代表、グランド・マーシャル、実行委員会[要出典]は審議を重ねた。パレードの沿道の観客達はパレード中止か延期を噂したが、悪天候に関わらず決行されることとなった[24]。観客数も少なく、テレビ視聴率も低かった。いくつかのフロート車はパレード終点までなんとか持ちこたえた。
