セルフ・コンパッション

「セルフ・コンパッション」とは、あるがままの自分を受け入れること。コンパッションとは英語で思いやりのことで、直訳すると「自分に対する思いやり」という意味になります。2011年に米国テキサス大学のクリスティーン・ネフ氏によって『セルフ・コンパッション―あるがままの自分を受け入れる』が出版され、ネガティブな思考や感情を無理に矯正するのではなく、自分のありのままの状態を受け入れる姿勢が推奨されました。

自己同情（英: Self-compassion、セルフ・コンパッション）とは、自らの欠点、失敗、または人生におけるさまざまな苦しみに直面した時に、自分自身への思いやりを実践することである。クリスティン・ネフの定義によれば、自己同情は「自分への優しさ」、「共通の人間性」、および「マインドフルネス」という3つの主要な要素で構成されている[1]。健康[2][3][4]、幸福[5][6]のための自己同情は、近年学界で強く推奨されている[7][8]。
