船長の最後退船

船長の最後退船（せんちょうのさいごたいせん）とは、海事における伝統の一つで、船長が自分の船とその船に乗っている全ての人に対して最終的な責任を持ち、緊急時には船上の人を全て助けてから最後に退船するか、さもなくば死を覚悟するというものである[注釈 1]。船長は船と運命を共にする(The captain goes down with the ship)とも言う。
