美女と野獣 (ミュージカル)

『美女と野獣』（びじょとやじゅう、Beauty and the Beast）は、アラン・メンケンが作曲、ハワード・アシュマン、ティム・ライス[注 1]が作詞、リンダ・ウールヴァートンが脚本を担当した、ディズニー・シアトリカル・プロダクションズ製作のミュージカル。1756年のフランスのボーモン夫人作の『美女と野獣』を1991年に映画化した『美女と野獣』を基にしている。残忍で自分勝手な王子が罰で醜い野獣に変えられ、冒険心の強い若い女性であるベルと出会い、自分の城に監禁する。元の人間の姿に戻るにはベルから愛されなければならない。舞台化に際し、7曲の新曲が追加された。1994年から2007年、ブロードウェイで5,461回上演され、ブロードウェイ史上9番目に長いロングラン公演となった。
