Dragon Quest: Your Story, the computer-animated movie based on Square Enix’s Dragon Quest role-playing games, is coming to Netflix on Feb. 13. The animated feature is based on the story of Dragon Quest 5: Hand of the Heavenly Bride, which was originally released for the Super Famicom in 1992.

Here’s the official — and admittedly very basic — plot synopsis, via Netflix:

Luca follows in his father’s footsteps to rescue his mother from evil Ladja. Finding the heavenly hero who wields the Zenithian sword is his only hope.

Dragon Quest: Your Story was originally released in theaters in Japan last August and performed modestly at the box office. The movie shifted away from the traditional Akira Toriyama-designed visual style for its characters in favor of a more Western-style CG aesthetic — a choice that drew some criticism from Japanese Dragon Quest fans.

The Dragon Quest animated movie joins another Square Enix RPG-based streaming option: live-action drama series Final Fantasy 14: Dad of Light.
