Wizards acquire Poole, Baldwin Jr. and Rollins along with a First and Second Round Pick in trade with Warriors

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Washington Wizards have acquired guards Jordan Poole and Ryan Rollins and forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. along with a 2030 first round pick, a 2027 second round pick and cash considerations from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for guard Chris Paul.  Paul was acquired by the Wizards via trade on June 24.

“Jordan is an exciting young player with championship experience and a dynamic skillset,” said Wizards General Manager Will Dawkins.  “He improves every year because of his strong work ethic, a trait that will carry over with us and help him establish a leadership role on the team.”

Poole posted career-high averages of 20.4 points and 4.5 assists per game last season, appearing in all 82 games with the Warriors.  He averaged 24.6 points in 43 games as a starter, including 11 30-point efforts and two 40-point games (notching a career-high 43 points on Dec. 18 at Toronto).  As a member of the 2022 NBA Champions, Poole contributed 17.0 points and 3.8 assists in 22 postseason games.  He was originally drafted by the Warriors with the 28th overall selection in the 2019 NBA Draft.

“Patrick and Ryan are two talented young players who we know well from their draft process,” said Dawkins.  “We look forward to the energy they’ll bring as they continue to develop within our system.”

Baldwin Jr. was the Warriors’ first round draft pick (28th overall) in 2022.  He averaged 3.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 31 games as a rookie last season with Golden State.  Baldwin Jr. also saw action in 11 games for the Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State’s G League affiliate), where he posted 14.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest.

Rollins was originally selected with the 44th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft by Atlanta before being traded on draft night to Golden State. He averaged 1.9 points and 1.0 rebounds in 12 games with the Warriors.  Rollins also appeared in 19 games with Santa Cruz, where he averaged 19.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

Baldwin Jr. and Rollins will both be added to the Wizards’ roster at NBA 2K24 Summer League 2023 in Las Vegas.
