Film crews were busy setting up at Hampton Court Palace on Sunday, February 5 for what is believed to be filming for the new Sherlock Holmes film, Sherlock and Watson .

Getwestlondon understands Hollywood duo Will Ferrell and John C Reilly are filming for the comic adaptation of the classic Sherlock Holmes detective story.

The two actors take on the leading roles in the film, with Ferrell playing Holmes and Reilly taking the role of Dr Watson.

Crews were seen setting up what looked to be an outdoor fair, on the grounds of the palace.

A sign reading "welcome to the Royal Hampton Court Palace inaugural Anglo-American exhibition" was erected in front of a white marquee with red, white and blue bunting.

Filming was set to start on Sunday February 5, continuing until Thursday February 9, with an additional day of filming scheduled for Sunday, February 12.

The film, which also features famous actors such as Ralph Fiennes, Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Hall, Hugh Laurie and Rob Brydon, is set to be released in 2018 and is being written and directed by Etan Cohen.

Both Ferrell and Reilly were spotted at Stamford Bridge over the weekend as Chelsea played Arsenal in a Premiere League game.

The duo were seen filming scenes for the film in Soho earlier this month and in December last year.

And the pair are no strangers to each other in the world of acting, they have previously worked alongside one another in comedies like "Step brothers" and "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby".
