Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly 'banned' from having an editorial input on shows not connected to their $112 million Netflix deal.
According to The Sun, this means that the Sussexes will not be permitted to have a say about the upcoming series of The Crown, which airs on the platform.
It comes after the the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed an enormous multi-year deal with the streaming giant, and eye further business ventures such as launching their own production company to create comedy shows.
A Netflix insider went into more detail about Meghan and Harry's deal in a recent discussion with The Sun.
According to the source, the couple were more concerned about their own ideas for shows, instead of programmes that are already on the platform.
The Netflix insider also maintained that Harry and Meghan will not be involved with the royal show - however, the popular series was brought up in their conversations.
"The Sussexes were more concerned and consumed about their own image and ideas rather than what else was being screened on Netflix," the insider said.
"The subject of The Crown was brought up, but the service has always stood firm that they leave the editorial of that show to film makers Leftbank and show creator Peter Morgan and unless a legal matter, there is no interference.
"The Duke And Duchess did not fight over this, which may be seen by some as odd given the next time period the show will cover."
The source added: "Netflix would not and certainly will not offer the Duke And Duchess Of Sussex any control of the company's brand editorial policies or strategy. And nor would they.
A representative for Netflix as well as Harry and Meghan have been approached by The Mirror for comment.
The news comes as producers gear up for the filming of season five and six of the hit period drama, that is expected to include events from the 1990s and 2000.
In the years expected to be covered by the drama, Harry's mother, Princess Diana, tragically died in a car accident in 1997.
The Netflix source also added: "In reality Harry cannot edit his controversial moments off Netflix just because he and his wife have a huge deal."
Details of their enormous Netflix deal come shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex filed paperwork with the UK's Intellectual Property Office for trademark of Archewell Productions.
According to the documents, the production organisation would be involved with the creation of 'motion picture films, televisions series and videos.'
