TORONTO – DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures International are to release the sci-fi western Cowboys & Aliens internationally in Imax theaters day-and-date with each territory’s rollout.
The simultaneous studio release with Imax for the Jon Favreau picture that stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde will start in August, the partners said Tuesday.
Favreau’s earlier film Iron Man 2, also released by Paramount Pictures International, grossed around $25 million on 262 Imax screens worldwide.
“This release marks the continuation of the fantastic relationship we have with Imax and we are thrilled that fans will have the ability to experience it this way,” Andrew Cripps, president of Paramount Pictures International, said in a statement.
Cowboys & Aliens is produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
The summer tentpole is based on a Platinum Studios graphic novel created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg.
