LONDON — Disney will launch its first boy-focused U.K. channel, Disney XD, on August 31, it was announced Monday.
Described as “boy-focused [and] girl-inclusive” and aimed at children aged 6-14, the channel will feature programming including “Aaron Stone,” the live action series about a teenage boy who becomes a crime-fighting online gaming character; upcoming Marvel animated series “Iron Man: Armoured Adventures,” as well as such shows as “Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” which currently airs on Disney Channel, and family movies including “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
Boel Ferguson, General Manager for Disney Channels U.K. & Ireland, said the channel offered “incredibly high standards” of entertainment and promised “complex, multi-faceted characters that, while not perfect, are smart, selfless, determined and brave.”
