The acting Minister of Justice, Abdul Hakim Sharai, said that the constitution of the previous government of Afghanistan is not based on Islamic Sharia, and, therefore, efforts are underway to create a new constitution.

Speaking at event of the "government's accountability program," Abdul Hakim Sharai said that no article of the constitution of the previous government was in accordance with the Sharia laws.

"In the previous constitution, no one can cite an article cited in accordance with the book of Allah, Sunnah or Hanafi jurisprudence,” he said.

The Islamic Emirate official reiterated that he will not let any person or group run political parties in the nation.

"Our experiences have shown that these political parties are the only cause for the nation's current state of devastation,” Sharai noted.

According to the general director of the Ministry of Justice's Institute of Legislation and Scientific Research, a total of 49 documents, including 10 guidelines and a statute, and 38 legislative documents, had been approved or revised in the previous year.

The draft laws on statistics, society, preventing land grabbing, are among the documents that were approved and reviewed by the Ministry of Justice last year, according to Fazl Hadi Sahibzada, director of the general director of the Institute of Legislation and Scientific Research in the Ministry of Justice.

“49 legislative documents, including a statute, have been approved, rejected, or revised,” Sahibzada noted.

According to the Ministry of Justice, 298 defendants got free legal counsel last year, and 754 impoverished defendants' legal and criminal cases were defended in court.

In the previous year, this ministry also translated 86,282 official documents, it said.
