Hollywood's Three-Story Target Will Finally Emerge From Construction Limbo

Remember that massive half-built Target that's been taunting Hollywoodians? Two years after a judge ordered the ginormous project to come to a screeching halt, the mass retailer finally (and expectedly) has the green light to hammer away again, the LA Times reports.

Following LA City Council's unanimous vote of approval yesterday, construction is expected to resume "within weeks," notes the newspaper. At issue was the 74-foot-tall shopping center's height (the area's limit is 35 feet), which the council remedied by rewriting the zoning codes altogether.

In addition to housing an approximately 164,000-square-foot Targé, the three-story development will include 30,000 square feet of space for retail and restaurants, and parking (458 spaces!) on the first and second levels. The retailer's also expected to bring in about 250 jobs, so there's that.

If all goes according to plan, Target Hollywood should open "sometime next year," but NIMBYists have vowed to keep up the fight, reports the Times.
