The season finale of “Homeland” drew 1.7 million viewers Sunday night for Showtime.
Combined with a later showing, the episode garnered a total of 2 million viewers. That was enough to make it the most-watched season finale of any first-year Showtime series.
When additional linear telecasts, as well as DVR and On Demand usage, are included, “Homeland” is averaging 4.2 million viewers.
“Homeland,” based on the Israeli series “Prisoners of War,” stars Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin as CIA operatives, as well as Damian Lewis as a captured but recently released soldier suspected of turning against America. Exec producers are Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa, Avi Nir, Ran Telem, Gideon Raff and Michael Cuesta.
“Homeland” was preceded at 9 p.m. by the sixth-season finale of “Dexter,” which had an aud of 2.2 million for its first telecast and 2.7 for the night. Show is averaging 5.4 million viewers across all platforms.
