SCOTLAND striker Kenny Miller secured his place in Wolves history by scoring for the seventh successive game.His 83rd minute strike, after George Ndah had opened the scoring, equalled the club's post-war record.
The former Rangers and Hibs forward went ballistic after steering home a cross from sub Adam Proudlock.
That meant another defeat for under-fire Preston boss Craig Brown, who offered no excuses afterwards.
The former Scotland coach said: "The better team usually wins and that is what happened. They have a lot of quality and are the best team to come here this season."
Wolves skipper Paul Ince will miss the FA Cup quarter-final clash at Southampton after picking up his 10th booking of the season, but manager Dave Jones is determined to get the result that would give the 35-year-old veteran another crack at the competition he has won twice.
Jones said: "Paul is at an age where he has so much experience at so many clubs - and yet he's totally devastated that he's out of the Cup game.
"I've told him we'll just have to get into the next round without him so he can play."
