``We decided to do it as we all enjoy chicken parmigiana and it would be a good chance to meet some new people and try some new food at the same time,'' the Parmi Challenge organiser Mitch Duhig said.
``Not only do we want to have some good fun ourselves, but we want to support local business, as it's a great way to let people know some of the deals that go in town, the food that is available and some of the great service we get from these places.''
The 25-year-old bank employee, with no formal connection to Launceston's restaurant industry, and his group of up to 25 have tried chicken parmigianas at The Royal Oak, The Mercure and the Cock'n'Bull, with the group moving on to O'Keefe's last night.
They have been judging the food on value-for-money, taste, sides and service and atmosphere.
Mr Duhig said that the challenge was not just limited to Launceston, as they would try any chicken parmigiana in the area.
They are also planning road trips to Hobart and Burnie to further enhance their experience.
Mr Duhig is calling for restaurants and other parmigiana lovers to put their hands up to take part in the challenge.
