Former Smash co-stars Debra Messing and Will Chase call time on their relationship after two and a half years

Debra Messing has split from boyfriend Will Chase after two and a half years.

The former Smash co-stars first got together in late 2011 after meeting on the set of their hit musical show, but now the actress's rep has confirmed to Us Weekly that they have amicably parted ways.

The official statement reads: 'Debra Messing and Will Chase have ended their two-and-a-half-year relationship but remain close friends.'

The 46-year-old former Will & Grace favourite, who is currently starring in NBC crime drama The Mysteries Of Laura, was previously married to actor and screenwriter Daniel Zelman from September 2000 until December 2011.

The couple are parents to 10-year-old son Roman.

Just nine days after Messing and Zelman announced their separation, it was revealed that she and her co-star had already embarked on a romance.

Will, 44, who is currently starring in the hit ABC musical series Nashville as smooth country crooner Luke Wheeler, has two daughters - Daisy and Gracie - with his first wife, Lori Chase, whom he was married to from 1998 until 2008.

He was also married to Stephanie Gibson from November 2009 until January 2012.
