UFC 156 officially draws 10,275 attendance and $2.4 million gate

jose-aldo-25.jpgThis month’s UFC 156 event officially drew an attendance of 10,275 for a live gate of $2,437,150.

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer on Monday emailed the figures to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

UFC 156, which was the UFC’s latest Super Bowl weekend card, took place Feb. 2 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. In the pay-per-view headliner, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo defended his title with a unanimous-decision victory over Frankie Edgar.

The official tallies matched the estimated figures that UFC officials announced on fight night.

Of the 10,275 attendees, 7,136 paid for tickets while 3,139 received complimentary admission. The average paid ticket prices was $341.53.

UFC 156’s gate didn’t crack the top 5 for the venue, which set a promotional record with UFC 100 in 2009. That event scored a live gate of more than $5.1 million (10,871 attendance).
