Warren, Charles Beecher, 1870-1936

[Charles Beecher Warren (b. April 10, 1870, Bay City, Michigan-d. February 3, 1936, Grosse Pointe, Michigan), lawyer, diplomat, and politician. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1891, and was a member of the Bering Sea Claims Commission in 1896-1897. He served in the United States Army on the staff of the Judge Advocate General during World War I. He was an alternate delegate from Michigan to the Republican National Convention in 1908, 1912, and 1916, and a regular delegate in 1924, 1928, and 1932. Warren served as U.S. Ambassador to Japan from September 24, 1921 to January 28, 1922, then as U.S. Ambassador to Mexico from March 31, 1924 to July 22, 1924. President Calvin Coolidge nominated him to be Attorney General in 1925, but his nomination failed to win Senate approval.]
