Gronk earns AFC player of week honor

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Redskins (link here).

The honor, announced by the Patriots this morning, comes after Gronkowski set the single-season NFL record for receiving touchdowns by a tight end (14). The record had previously been held by San Diego's Antonio Gates (2009) and San Francisco's Vernon Davis (2009).

Gronkowski now has 15 receiving touchdowns on the season. He has caught 71 passes for 1,088 yards.
