THQ Nordic buys Pieces Interactive, one of the veteran Swedish gaming companies, for $350k

THQ Nordic AB, a Vienna, Austria and Stockholm, Sweden-based gaming company, announced an agreement to acquire shares in the Swedish development studio Pieces Interactive AB.

Pieces Interactive was founded in 2007 and has since developed over ten different titles for mainly external clients. Pieces Interactive has 13 employees and is based on computer game education at Skövde University. Since 2016, the studio has developed new content into one of THQ Nordics brands. This product is not yet advertised.

The purchase price for the shares is just over SEK 2.8 million ($350k), which has been paid in cash at the time of the agreement. Pieces was owned by investors including Almi Invest, Skaraborg Invest, Gothia Science Park Invest, Goodbye Kansas Entertainment Group, Bengt Sjöberg and Noah Clason.

Pieces Interactive will be the company's sixth internal wholly owned studio alongside Black Forest Games (Germany), Rainbow Studios (USA), Foxglove Studios (Sweden), Grimlore Games (Germany) and Mirage Game Studios (Sweden).
